Ok, so-I spent a lot of days realizing in real time what does not work in the house especially with small children around.

Usually, when you start homeschooling, there are littles around as well. I very much wish I had a wall of locked cabinets secured so I could hide things that caused too much trouble if a little person got a hold of them....

First and foremost: Permanent markers. Sharpies. Anything that cannot quickly be cleaned off of a wall, furniture, or an important stack of paperwork.

I also realized very quickly that both rubber bands and pipe cleaners can too quickly become a weapon....so, definitely don't just have them around in a drawer somewhere.

Scissors and Knives are obvious but most of the time as long as they are stored high enough, you usually should be okay. Better safe than sorry, though. Highly recommend those items in a locked drawer. Only to be brought out under strict supervision.

Very important is anything that can be swallowed. If it is small enough to fit in the mouth of a toddler....it's a must keep out of any room they are able to access.

Additionally, medicines and hot objects. I kept all medicines in a special box way up high for a very long time. And hot things...hopefully you can be in eye sight of generally in the kitchen and on the dining table. Good to have a plan, though!

Be sure to baby proof your house as best as possible with outlet covers and baby gates and cushions on sharp corners as well.

This all helps so much to be able to focus on schooling needs during the day without the worry of safety or mess concerns that can be distracting or worse...disastrous.
